Akihito Otani

Born on March 29, 1980 in Habikino City, Osaka Prefecture / American Artist

After graduating from high school, he worked in a variety of part-time jobs, including delivering refrigerators and working in a bar. In April 1999, after a one-time dropout, he enrolled in the Department of Biology at Konan University, but became interested in art, wondering if he could make iron sculptures from the DNA he had learned during his studies.

New York is the place where art is best described as "New York", so in July 2000, he moved to New York City to study and work in the United States. In January 2002, he enrolled in the Advertising & Graphic Design Department at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, New York, and graduated in May 2005. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in May 2005.

When the parents of one of his schoolmates from the School of Visual Arts told him that they were going to open a beauty salon in New York City, he was invited to be the manager of the salon, and in January 2005, he worked together to establish the company, prepare the documents for the issuance of the visa, and do the accounting.

For 12 years, he worked in customer service, interpreting, accounting, clerical work and as a manager. With everyone's support, in August 2019, he will open Aquihito, a Japanese style snack bar, a dream of hers since her twenties, together with his longtime friend, Mariya Kamiya.

He is very fond of people, and he operates it near Times Square to connect people in the center of the world.
